Re: Is this too much heel?

Can you re-orient the pic to where the horizon is horizontal? That will give a better impression of the amount of heel. I would have been on the Poop Deck if that happened to me!

Re: Is this too much heel?

Looks like about 45 degrees. Rock and roll!

Tell me more about the GoPro. Does it come with hardware to mount it on things?

Re: Is this too much heel?

I was gonna complain that what we really needed was a "Is this too much leg" thread, but after seeing your pic, I think this is worthy Paul.

How do you mount the GoPro?

Re: Is this too much heel?

tspoon - it's a high definition video camera, takes stills too. Comes with a waterproof housing. Great bit of kit, lots of accessories available too.
Mine is mounted using a handlebar mount which you can buy separately, just attaches to the stanchions, pullpit, pushpit etc. I think it fits from 3/4" to 1.25" tubing or something like that.
I don't currently have any software that lets me rotate by a custom amount, and I can't seem to locate a protractor either

Re: Is this too much heel?

well the idea is to get boat speed the more u heel over the more your tiller will be not be center and u will be fighting it and rounding up soon! What is your Heel degree at? You can always take down sail, this is called reefing, some people think the more heel you have is how u sail, this is not true at all!

Re: Is this too much heel?

Nice one Bent, thanks! I'd say that's a touch over 45 degrees going on there.
ImASon - indeed, I had the first reef in and I normally try to keep the boat around 20degrees or less (except when messing about for fun). This was a very sudden gust causing a fairly significant heel and a nice round up that I thought folks might like to see.
