Re: Outrageously Good Deal of the Day, Week, Year....

Jeff,
Here is one all ready to go and in your neck of the woods.

http://www.yachtworld.com/boats/1977.../United-States

A few years ago I saw one similar (but probably better equiped and better condition) for sale in Annapolis for $90K.

44's look to be a great passage maker. My sister sailed one non stop Maryland to St. Lucia and made the trip in about two weeks- those boats can knock out the miles and do it comfortably.

Thanks for the Kelley Peterson/Formosa information. Never knew.

Regards

Re: Outrageously Good Deal of the Day, Week, Year....

I'm not looking for a Peterson 44 but assuming its in the shape they claim, that isn't a bad price either.

I think if I were seriously looking at boats of this general size to do some long distance cruising I would probably try to find a boat more like the Farr 46- Design # 92 Farr Yacht Design http://www.farrdesign.com/pdfs/092brochure.pdf

Or I would also strongly consider something like the Farr 44- Design number 89 Farr Yacht Design

These are about 2/3 the weight and fractionally rigged.

Otherwise, if I did not mind doing an adaptation, and serious structural upgrades, I might consider a J-130 or a perhaps a J-44.

But hey, that is just me.....
