Service Marina - PENSACOLA or MOBILE

I'm looking at trucking my sailboat (33') from Lake Michigan to FL this fall... how original, I know... What I need to find is a gin-pole for mast re-stepping (do-it-yourself would be best) and a Travelift (unless the trailer is the kind that can launch you).

Any local knowledge on this topic would be gold. I'm looking at going to either Pensacola or Mobile.

For Mobile Bay, check out Turner Marine. Great folks, great rates, decent location and facilities.

Yep, they're about as close to perfect as you'll find along the Loop. The only two things they lack are pump-out and fuel, but Dog River Marina next door can cover both of those.

If you do go to Turner's, make sure to ask about the BoatUS discount (25%) as well as their weekly rates.

They've got a pretty good ship's store, and if you need something they don't have there's a West Marine Express about 25 yds away.

If you need any work done, one of the best boat rights in the country is just down the street on Dauphin Island. If you need/want any hull or rigging work Divirsified Marine is at the south end of the bay. The owner, Donnie Brennon, is out of the country for a month or so (he is the US Olympic sailing teams boat wright), but has some pretty amazing prices for the quality of work.
