iPhone log app.

I've been keeping a written log of my sailing trips, but I'd like to switch to using an app. There are several reasons, ability to backup, share with people and automate certain aspects.

Has anybody had any experience with an iPhone or iPad sailing log. I have some ideal requirements, but I won't get into those now.

Re: iPhone log app.

How about Evernote? It synchs all your computers automatically, captures pictures and such. Might work as a log book.

How is boat suite on logging trips? Does it have any automatic logging features? Evernote works well for other aspects of my life, but not for a log book. Maybe I should layout what I'm looking for.

I'd like it to log my maintenance and parts lists for my boat, as well as log my trips. When logging trips it would be nice to have it automatically log my location, heading and speed at certain intervals. It should also allow me to log when certain events happen, sail changes, motor starting, etc. I should also be able to write descriptions for a portion of the trip as I see fit, such as when something breaks, or a comment on the whole trip.

I would also like to add logs to it without having to be on the boat, so that if I'm without my phone, or battery is dead and I use my paper log I can come back later and update it.

Any ideas if there's one app out there with all this?

Sounds like a job for any spreadsheet. Set up columns for whatever YOU think should be in the log. And then you can use any platform to maintain the log. Or to search in it, sort in it, etc.

Yeah, I've setup my own paper log with everything I want. And thought about making an electronic version, I just wanted some automation to it. Maybe I'll learn to write apps and make one myself.
