Finally got my new barney post for my C22 after a months long wait.
Had the Canada Post tag on the door Friday when I got home - Pick it up tomorrow - drat gotta wait again.
Tomorrow comes. Work the morning and rush off to pick it up on the way to a race (which we won by the by
) so had to wait till Sunday to install it. Sunday -get it installed and take her out for a test run - winds are very light so not much of a test so far. Buddy calls from the dock so I go in to pick him up. Winds are starting to perk up and it looks good for a decent shakedown. As I cruise by the dock and he jumps aboard the slack mainsheet catches on a dock cleat and we fetch up quite handily.
That was a surprise but not an issue (I wasn't going that fast after all). However, as we are about to push off the dock again I notice the fuel line to the outboard hanging in the water -WTH.
Somehow the line was struck or snagged and the nipple on the fuel head broke off cleanly. No quick repair there. Still undaunted we try to sail off the dock. This worked wonderfully poor as we wound up driven to shore (gently) until the keel fetched up.
Fortunately as we sat 6' from shore and 5' from the dock all I had to do was throw a line to my friends wife who happened to be there and hauled our sorry butts back to the dock.
By the time I ran home and dug out an old fitting (packrat I save everything) and went and got things repaired, the wind had died so I just put her on the mooring and said "Tomorrow after work!"
No wind today
-Life is funny ain't it.
Maybe tomorrow eh.
