Need your help please!

Hi all,

Our search for our first boat needs to continue. We were working with this couple to swap/trade our 72 MGB Roadster for their 1969 Albin Vega 27. The car is in amazing condition and the boat was Ok. Suddenly yesterday, all changed and they backed out?

We are going to look at a 1981 Irwin 28.5. Could someone offer advice/comments on this boat please?

Thanks,

Ron

Re: Need your help please!

I'd sell the car separately. Then use the cash to by a boat as you will have a much wider selection of boats available. The chance of finding someone who wants a MGB with a perfect boat is very small compared to having a selection of boats limited only by what you want to spend.

Thanks and you are probably right. I tried at first to sell the MGB on Kijiji and it was a frustrating experience. My hope was that someone felt the same way about selling their boat and this would be a good thing for both parties.

The response has been good actually, but you are right that this does limit the possibilities? I'll keep trying and hope someone can offer their comments on a Irwin 28.5.

Not familiar with the Irwin, but here's a link that may help you in your search: Used Sailboats in central Canada (these are Canadian built boats)

You'll find specs, a brief overview and a price range for each boat on the list.

If I was thinking 28 feet, my first choice would be the Pearson 28-2. I'm also partial to the Ontario 28 and Aloha 28.

Good luck on your search.

Re: Need your help please!

ditto pb's rec's of the Ontario 28 and Aloha 28. A Mirage 27 would be a decent choice and in the trade value range as well.

It's 5 o'clock somewhere:
