Ugh.... another boat name thread.

My last boat came prenamed unicorn which I promptly changed to Folly. I'm now in the market for a different boat and if I don't like its name will be changing it. I don't want to inadvertently ended up with a common name so I thought I'd check here and see if anyone has noticed these names around. 1) Bindlestiff 2)Narrator and 3) Folly II

Thanks

Here's a site to search for documented boat names. Narrator seems to be the only one that is unique among documented boats.

Re: Ugh.... another boat name thread.

Narrator seems unique, yet simple enough to say over the radio.

If I was to rename my boat with the same name as my previous boat, I would not bother with the II. There are already two or more of just about any boat name so why bother?

Re: Ugh.... another boat name thread.

Years back here in BC there were two Follys that I know of, a Sceptre 41 that used to hang around Keats Island, and a powerboat that replaced it. Not sure if they are still around.

As an aside, we often comment on boat names while we listen to Ch 16 when underway.. there are many 'what were they thinking??' moments each day. I'd like to see two boats that 'buddy boat' - one with the name 'Somebody' and the other called 'Talk to Me'... think of the radio calls back and forth

Re: Ugh.... another boat name thread.

@deferron thanks for the website. I'm probably going to spend the next few hours there typing in names. I found the Canadian equivalant as well Vessel Registration Query System

@rob Not a fan of the II either but seeing as I'm keeping the first one, I have to differentiate them some how. Besides it would be fun to make up stories about the loss of the Folly I

@paradise You must no about by grandpa. He sunk a few (some of them a couple of times) and she (gramma) did get the house.

@faster Thanks for the info, especially seeing as the west coast is where I'll be cruising.
