Whats everyones thoughts on this approaching storm? So far ive seen 3 possible tracks from heading to the GOM, kissing floridas east coast and heading north, and one favoring the Carolinas. In your years of experience where do you guys think this one will favor?

I don't have a clue, but if it has a chance of hitting the east coast of Florida all of my canvas is coming off soon. I put my faith in the weather pros.

Re: Isaac

I have IHurricane which is an app for the iphone. Alot of my friends in the GOM swear by it. Ive been tracking this thing since 6 am trying to put the peices together for work related pre planning.

Re: Isaac

Otter,

Surely you jest! Trying to guess the weather is a fool's errand; a quick viewing of any TV weatherman will confirm what fools they all are... I mean, Al Roker? Really?

Seriously, though, this one does bear watching. NOAA's tropical storm center's pretty good at predicting paths, but those 72 hr cones have a tendency to wander as atmospheric conditions change.

Re: Isaac

I agree, I mean I understand these things go where they want. What will make it interesting is even here in NJ the surface tempurature is 81 degrees. Pretty much unheard of especially since its been that way for a month or more. I doubt it will make its way to my backyard ( TD Ten however is another story ) but figuring how they usually slow down around the Carolinas due to the water temp, I wonder if these storms could sustain strength further north.

Re: Isaac

Just saw this map of sea surface temps as they relate to what's normal -- I mean, Wow!

No doubt that Otter's right about the elevated surface temps, and the potential for stronger storms in the N. Atlantic.
