Re: what upgade or project did you do

Continuous maintenance all year while cruising in Asia, but the biggies were:
Regalvanizing the Anchor Chain
Sewed a new Main sail cover.
Installed my spare alternator
New Trojan 6 V house batteries
Cleaned 2 diesel tanks( pulled one)
Installed new GPS
Rebuilt bilge pump
Removed hot water tank/system (20+ years old, no need for hot water here)
Repainted name on topside
Waxed topsides
One coat of mahogany stain on all exterior teak
Various small electrical fault finding
General lubricating, tightening, adjusting, fiddling, messing about on my boat in Paradise....

Re: what upgade or project did you do

On my Catalina 30 did the following:
- Rebed many of the rail stantions / rail mounts - used 4200
- built backing plates from 3/8 aluminum for all the rebedding
- added an LED (blue) to the cabin / cockpit area for evenings on the hook
- fixed several broken hinges on the cockpit locker lids
- added a fishing pole holder to the aft rail.
- built a mohogony table that plugs into the rod holder so I have a table while grilling off our aft-mounted BBQ.
- fixed a couple of the interior cabin lights that were not working.

Is Goa a sauce? And I'm pretty sure in any case that most countries have outlawed cannibalism.

Re: what upgade or project did you do

I need to replace the halyards and the furling line before it bites me in the butt. I also want to make a shelf to mount on a bulkhead to store a few odds and ends.
I need to convert to shore power so I can run the cabin heater over the winter without being a fire hazard.
Also need to run the wires for the depth finder so they're not such a trip hazard in the cabin.

Seems like my list is the same as last year.

Re: what upgade or project did you do

We just bought a new to us Catalina 36 this July, and so far we have done some upgrades that were recommended by the survey and some others that we wanted to do just for our own peace of mind.

1. Replaced all freshwater plumbing with pex
2. added an accumulator tank to the freshwater system.
3. added a gps to the pedestal
4. upgraded the stereo, (couldn't stand not being able to play my buffet cd's or the wife's ipod)
5. replaced the nicro solar vent with a day/night solar vent that actually works.
6. re plumbed the 2 electric bilge pumps
7. have started replacing interior lights with LED's
8. added red LED courtesy lighting

For the winter I plan to pull most all the doors, and drawers etc, and refinish them at home. I also have replacements for most of my running rigging at home just waiting for winter to splice it and such. Also hope to upgrade the electrical panel and the battery/charging system in the spring.

And I am sure that I will run across 3x more projects as I work through this already long list. I do like working on the boat, because even if it doesn't go well at least I accomplished it, or didn't myself. I didn't have to have supervisor authorization, committee meetings to decide how to attempt it, or process review meetings while in the middle of it.

It's the little things in life. Cheers
