Sailing from Galveston to the Philippines

Does anyone know how long it would take to sail from Galveston Island Tx. to the philippines?? Also would it be best to go east or down to the Panama Canale and go west? One last thing. What size sailboat would you need to do this?
Thanks!

Take a look at Jimmy Cornell's "World Cruising Routes". Also Noonsite.com has a section on the PI.
