GPS App

Just got a new phone, (smart phone) my first one, Droid...

Looking for a GPS, SOG app marine application..

Mostly I want a good size speedo in knots and maybe a numeric position or compus

Don't necessarily need charts

Any suggestions...?

Re: GPS App

I'll second that, for a mobile phone app, Navionics is really good.

Re: GPS App

I looked at it, but a bit "busy" for what I want... I have a chartplotter with a much larger screen than my phone has, with just a small knotmeter in the corner...

I'm looking for something more "basic" with a large easy to read digital readout and maybe a heading feature for sail trim and speed adjustments in the cockpit...

I found a "Sail Droid" app that seems to fit my needs anyone try it yet...?

Re: GPS App

I thought you would be able to set up a view similar to what you want. I just checked & I was wrong, apparently you cannot do that. My bad.

Navionics is still a great app for a phone.

Re: GPS App

I have just started to use SailDroid but haven't really gave it a good shakedown yet. Seems simple enough and had stuff I was looking for as I didn't need charts as my lake just ain't that big..... I like it so far.

Re: GPS App

I use MotionX GPS on my iPhone (there's an android version as well) to record tracks and give my speed while sailing. It might be more what you are looking for.
