Re: Moving to San Francisco Bay

Some comments on earlier posts... Everyone is very friendly on D-Dock at Marina Bay. There are always dock neighbors standing around talking on the walkways and people will say hello as they pass. The liveaboards are all very friendly also. Lots more traffic of people/boats now that the Tradewinds Sailing School is on D-Dock exclusively now and their office is at the clubhouse.

Marina Bay has a nice neighborhood surrounding it; the Richmond PD is just 2 blocks away now so there is always police presence. There is a nice walkway around it and plenty of good people who walk the trail around the marina. Brickyard cove is nice too; but not nearly so many people walking around.

As for the Richmond area crime; it's no worse than Oakland, and lots of boats berth in Oakland/Alameda along the estuary with little concern for the crime issues out there. As I said before; we avoid downtown Richmond at night and shop/eat in either Point Richmond (the Up & Under is a great bar & grill) or over in El Cerrito/Albany.
