Winter Sailing

I''m thinking of moving to the east coast and was wondering what peoples winter sailing experiences have been in the following areas: Abermarle, Pamlico, Wilmington NC area, and Charleston SC. How late and early can you sail these areas in relative comfort i.e. lines aren''t icing up etc.

Winter Sailing

Hi I live on a lake in Eastern NC and have sailed about every week since last september . I am sure the ocean is colder with the higher winds but 40º is about average winter her and that for only a month or so . Lake Gaston is on the VA/NC border so add 5º-7ºfor the SC border. I went sailing over Christmas out of Oriental (NEWBERN) and it was about 50º. Stay away from Offshore Hatteress during the winter. I hear it can be a bear Look at the archives about what gear should I bring to sail around Hatteress in Feb.
