Re: Boat manufacturer

I think the boat is from Canada. Her name is Tai Chi. I took the photo in Great kills Harbor, NY.

Re: Boat manufacturer

I believe It's a 2000, 42 ft. Cabo Rico, Hull # 1 a Chuck Paine design.

Here's their blog. Our Boat | Adjusting Our Sails

She's a beauty!

JonEisberg will become famous soon enough
Re: Boat manufacturer

I ran one from FL up to Annapolis in the spring, sweet boat... Pity I hardly got to sail it at all...

Couple of things surprised me, however...

The trip turned out to be a motor job most of the way, her speed under power was disappointing, to say the least...

Engine access, despite being located under the galley, was appallingly bad, really glad I never had to attend to anything major... Even merely checking the oil was a bit of a chore...

I didn't care for the cockpit ergonomics around the helm, didn't work for me at all... I'm pretty tall, and yet never felt I had decent visibility unless standing, or perched on the coaming...

Of course, the view forward, or the usable working space of the cockpit, wasn't helped at all, by this ridiculous Tower of Power at the helm... What the hell are people thinking, with this sort of crap?

Looking at the boat pictured, I'd imagine the combination of the dodger, bimini with that connecting panel, plus the liferaft mounted where it is, and fenders stowed where they are, would likely make forward visibility from that helm a real challenge, as well...

Hell, may as well just put it on autopilot, and go to sleep... (grin)

Rocky islands be damned, eh?

It's true, though, nowadays forward visibility is quite compromised by such instrument pods and large pedestals, winch accessibility hampered by fixed pedestal cockpit tables (and the winches are 12 feet apart!!)
