Small boat voyaging

Does anybody voyage on small boats anymore, say under 28' ? I'm doing some research and can't really find many out there.

Re: Small boat voyaging

I think there's alot of people are out there voyaging/cruising on small boats.
They're flying under the radar & probably like it that way.
Tanya Aibei?? went around the world on a 26'..

Mines 28, I recently took a 27 to South America. I'd rather be off shore in the 28 range, I like they way they sit in the swell pocket. I, like you, have no engine either. I'm reading " my old man and the sea" right now, father and son take the horn in a 25 footer. my in laws neighbor in Homestead florida crossed the atlantic in a 5 foot boat, google "the Fathers day" voyage.

Google Lin and Larry Pardey and there is Tristan jones, and many others.

Lots of folks went around the Globe with the contessa 26.

Like misfits said, Most of them are sailing under the radar.

Re: Small boat voyaging

"Trekka Round the World" by John Guzzwell. Under 28 you say! A mega-yacht that is!

Guzzwell went around the world in Trekka which is 20ft. His detour with the Smeetons where he is pitchpoled (in a bigger boat) off Cape Horn makes the book 2 great reads in one.

Sadly, this is not current though. He sailed in the 1950s if I recall.

Re: Small boat voyaging

My Vega sailed to Aus from Sweden 2008/2009 and another Vega also sailed here from Canada around 2008 as well, so there are those still doing it.
