I am incredulous. Regatta Pointe Marina in Palmetto, Florida has done something never heard of before.

They changed out all the staff and put in people who have absolutely NO boating or marina experience AT ALL. None, nada, zip. Don''t know the bow from the stern, cleat from a piling.

Things do not look good here.

Sadie, does Massey have a controlling interest in that marina...or to your knowledge is he just a slip holder for his brokerage boats?

I ask because he''s the single biggest customer...and probably too savvy to be the owner who made that decision.

As far as I know, Massey has no controlling interest in the marina - just a big customer. I am hoping that the brokerages here will help to moderate the new management.

They are talking about not letting anyone work on their boats (sanding, painting). I hope this will put Massey over the edge.

The wild stories are coming out of RPM daily. You can cut the tension with your rigging knife, and the marina is in a complete state of bewilderment. It seems as though the migration of slip renters has begun.

More info please.

We will begin a six month cruise this summer and had planned on ending it in January ''05 at RPM, as we like that marina a lot and thought it a good place to be for a while. We talked to a few boat owners and a lady harbormaster who convinced us to go there.

Knowing there is problems, I''ll probably go somewhere else. How''s Twin Dolphins?

Twin Dolphin''s is a nice place with comparable rates and ammenities. Not sure when you talked to the boat owners, but the natives are very restless these days.

FWIW, we spent the last two weeks at Twin Dolphin and like it a lot. The facilities are well-maintained, the marina is adjacent to downtown and a quick walk to the bus stop, it is a block from the large public library, and Charlie the harbormaster is a really nice guy. We would absolutely recommend it.

I''m at Regatta - have to be due to lease, or I would leave. Go to Twin Dolphin.

Regatta is getting worse, not better. Bathrooms are often not cleaned, management is rude, ignorant, and full of BS. Docks are falling apart, pool is not maintained.
