HAH. Mine won't hardly go near my boat. She's been sailing for 25+ years with her family. Spent many winters sailing around the caribbean, done various types of racing up to and including some long distance stuff, been offshore in major storms and 20' seas. She's got tons of experience sailing as she grew up in a sailing family.
Me... I've been sailing since December when I bought my very first boat which is 40 years old
I had very little prior experience. Finally decided to take the plunge after a two day trip on her parent's boat out east. We had some stressful moments the first few times I took it out with her and she just decided she wasn't interested in going and hasn't been near the boat in months.
She says, "Ugh, I am so done with sailing. I want a powerboat."
I think she needs to see me get more confident and better skilled with my boat before she's comfortable with me on it. She's been extremely supportive of me going on my own or with friends.
She did offer to go out this weekend with me and a non-sailer friend for the SF fleet week this weekend. I suggested this would be a bit crazy for her reintroduction to the boat but well... either she'll gain a lot of confidence in me or I'll be doing another year of single handed sailing with her encouragement. Either way I'm good.
