Lorieux Sextant: History?

I got my hands on a beat up old Lorieux sextant and I was wondering if anyone could tell me more about it and its maker. I know the company was formed in the 1800s and lasted until 1950, but not much else.

It reads: Lorieux Po(r or n?)thus et Lepetit succla paris and on the left side U.S.C - g5 no 615

Any knowledge or directions on where to look would be appreciatd. Thanks.

SV Velocir
