It's a short construction season up in Canada, lol

Thanks for all your help so far
If you take a few GOOD pics and post them, you'll probably get more info than you know what to do with....

Re: Found Sail Boat in my Back yard

Ya the boat is stored outside, and it according to the neighbors it has been for quite some time. I had a guy on a local car message board that I frequent offer me 200 for it. I am going to try to get some pictures up here somehow, I have them up at photobucket yu guess can just browse them there

Damn I can't ever post the link to my main gallery, if you search for drhoward69 that's my page, the boat is the first few pictures

Don't mind all the car pictures or various other retarded pictures I have up on there, lol

Re: Found Sail Boat in my Back yard

Certainly looks like a laser. Not too old, judging from the plastic grab rails. Looks clean. Seems complete (although I could not see the rudder; probably under the centerboard). Standard, nor pro rig. If it is in good condition - without the sail, but with a trailer - $200 sounds like a low but not unreasonable offer (but I don't know the prices in your area).

There is a rudder there as well, I'm going to take a closer look at it right now to see if there is a serial number somewhere

Well, from the pics the hull doesn't LOOK bad, but thats a hard one to tell from pics. Looks like everything is there, I don't see the rudder, but I see the tiller so maybe it's hidden. Used sails can be picked up very cheap on ebay, craigslist, etc... The trailer looks pretty bad, and I'm sure you don't have the title so that is probably worthless...

If it was me and I didn't want it, I'd probably take the $200 and save myself the trouble. You could probably get a little more if you cleaned it up and sold it at the right time of year. If you want to try it out and the hull is solid, then buy a sail and give it a try. I'm sure you'll get the money you invested back if all you buy is a sail...

Just my 2cents,

Re: Found Sail Boat in my Back yard

I agree it does look like it is not in that bad of shape, but it really depends on your local market. If you know someone who will give you $200 and you really don't want it, I say take it. Sure would be worth it to me to not have to put it on Crag's list and have idiots (myself fitting that category) trying to get you down to $200. Yes, you might get more and you certainly would if it were complete with a sail. But easy and quick is worth it's weight in gold. If you know the person, they might even take you out in it!

Re: Found Sail Boat in my Back yard

Get a sail and play with it!

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.

Re: Found Sail Boat in my Back yard

$200 is a BARGAIN! Assuming it stands up to close inspection you should be able to get at least $500 for it. I inquired about one on CL that looked alot like that one, with a sail, asking $1200 but it sold before I could look at it.

Remember, a new Laser goes for over $5000, and they are very popular. Of course your local market could be different.
