Yes you are right. Just read the headlines on a big newspaper before posting here. On her site (that i found out later) there is a complete description of all the attempts.

I was once met an old salt who was introduced to me as "the first guy to circumnavigate the world alone and NOT write a book about it". In retrospect, given the trends today, I'm not sure if he was modest or illiterate!

There are a good reason for publicity even if one does not make it to be famous and don't care about that: money

A circumnavigation is a very expensive affair. If you do not have publicity and people looking with interest to what you are doing you will not be able to raise any money with sponsorship. On the other hand the amount of money you will manage to get for your project is proportional to the visibility and exposure you manage to get.

So if you are not a very rich guy and want to do something that is expensive you need sponsorship and for that you need to give visibility for your project and for what you are doing.

Regards

Paulo

Jeanne Socratis, 70 year old lady on the home stretch now for her unassisted circumnavigation:

She's about 1500 miles out from Vancouver.

Absolutely inspiring!

One of our local yacht clubs and our sailing club will be on the docks when she arrives back in Victoria.
It's going to be quite a day.
