So I'm sitting here reading this thread and all I can hear is Strother Martin dropping one of my favorite movie lines "Morons, I've got Morons on my team ". Thanks for the levity, I needed it since I spent the day cleaning out the sailboat getting her ready to store for the winter tomorrow.

Agreed. Mid-40's and grew up in the city. Never stepped foot on a boat until a sailing lesson 4 years ago. Got hooked, bought a Pearson 26 and never looked back. Still, we vacillate between abject terror, confusion, joy and rejuvenation but still the greatest thing we ever did.

Yay, on all of that. One word came to mind: BumFuzzles!, to be followed shortly by a partial list of the must haves. Oddly, my meds made the short list this time.

But maybe you're right. It has been done, and can be done on just wits alone. Thinking now more and more that it seems less worth doing if you have to plan, plot, and prepare years in advance.

I agree. Here in the Chesapeake Bay, prime sailing season is just beginning. When it says "small craft warnings", we go out. We have hank on head sails and with the #3 and a double reef in the main, on our 1967 S&S Apache Sloop, it's just plain fun. Check out a video of one of these events.
