Don't blame me! I didn't do it! I wasn't even on the boat when it happened!

He tried getting back in the water himself but ended up having to be pulled off and towed from the Bahamas to Ft. Lauderdale. The rudder was too badly damaged. That ended my dad's liveaboard days. After they bought a house, his wife bought a handheld VHF and told him that's how he can reach her when he's on the boat.

Error? Anchoring off an island with 100 miles of open ocean behind you.

I can see the query to SailNet...

Dear SailNetters, I found this boat that the owner assures me needs just a little cosmetic work. He says that the boat isn't in the water and has very good drainage with really large scuppers. It's all rigged and ready to go. Can you tell me anything specific that I should look for? I don't want to spend more than $5000.
