Converting Hood Stoboom to slab reefing

Without going into the gory details, I am firing the Hood Stoboom on my Dana 24. I am planning to getting a new conventionally cut main with slab reefing and would love it if I could avoid having to buy a new boom. Has anyone heard of someone installing reefing hardware on a Stoboom? The mast sidewalls seem robust enough, but I'm no engineer and don't have any idea what kind of loads the padeyes, turning blocks, etc. are subjected to when the sail is reeled down.

All suggestions are welcome.

Re: Converting Hood Stoboom to slab reefing

Isn't the STOBOOM significantly larger than a standard boom ? I'd have thought the relatively low cost of a new boom would be outweighted by the convenience of the smaller extrusion.
