Re: Anyone know anything about Precision Sail Loft?

Darryl-

I am having a difficult time understanding your explanation on sail design drawings.

I believe you are incorrect in your assertions.

All sails today are usually developed through sail design software. After the input of several specifications, the software will render a raw image of the sail. The image is more than fine to present to a prospective client but it is not what one would normally use for advertising purposes.

Either a sail designer or graphic artist will take the raw image and then make it presentable for this purpose.

It is very hard to conceive that you would call a graphic artist and say.....make me some pretty sail drawings. Those drawings would not represent the product the consumer is going to receive.

Now. As far as your specific drawings are concerned. I am sorry, but they are not anything you or your company created. Are you aware there is a program that Google offers that will take an image and then search the entire internet and find exact matches? It can be a photo of a person or a drawing. It is incredibly accurate.

I performed that search on your drawings and I was surprised to find they already existed. And when there is a match, Google provides a link to them. Yours showed up on other loft's sites.

I have been called toxic and berated by you and your minions for simply passing along what I know and have found.

It is unfortunate that you are unable to do the same.

Would you like me to name the sail lofts where I found your drawings?

If you've got a smoking gun, why not just link to the drawings instead of throwing out these veiled threats? What are you trying to accomplish here?

And does Darryl actually have "minions" at this point? Or are you being a little dramatic for effect?

I just don't put a lot of stock in dudes who join when threads like this pop up, then only post on said thread.

That's why I'm personally more interested in Darryl's answers to Geoff's and Judy's questions.

No soup for you.

Daddy-

You appear to be the one who "enjoys these threads".

I am really not interested in your views or opinions.

The post was addressed to Darryl, not you.

I simply would like him to answer the question as he has made the statement.

Why?

At best, the drawings do not represent their products. At worst, it is intellectual property theft.

Sail designs come from individuals that paid good money for an education and utilize outrageously expensive software.

I do it for a living and this crap pisses me off to no end.

By the way. How does someone rack up 11,000 flipping posts in four years!?

Whoa! Smack and I have butted heads occasionally but he has contributed much more here than you have. Your post is in a public forum so it's open to anyone to comment and if you don't like that, take it up with Darryl in private, not here.

Looks like Morgan 30 is right - you are a (bitter) competitor.

I have some questions about Precision but you are just trying to be a PITA and making it less likely that we will find out anything useful.

Edit: fixed typo.

Re: Anyone know anything about Precision Sail Loft?

Geoff,

Not that it makes any difference, I am not a competitor.

In fact, I would lay odds that I have designed sails for Precision and they do not even know it.

There is no loft, they do not design their sails and the design drawings on their site are in violation of intellectual and copyright law.

How do I know? One of them is mine.

As far as disclosing anything about my personal life? Get real.

Go ahead and kill the messenger. It doesn't matter to me in the least.

I do hope Darryl does return though. Another question I have is why they only warranty acrylic UV protection on head sails for only 1 year. Last time I checked, Sunbrella carried a 10 year warranty and Recasen, 5 years.

I have no problem with resellers. Although Judy B would like you to believe she is a "sailmaker", she isn't. She isn't a designer aNd she has never spent back breaking hours in a 100 degree building on her knees.

I have no doubt she is an educated person and knows her product. But Hyde builds their sails in the Philippines and some of their reps actually have them built in China to get a better price.

With that being said, I would buy a sail from Judy if the price was right. However, I would take a big pass on Precision.

Spend wisely or not. It is your choice.

Heh-heh. That's what I thought...

Look, man up and out yourself like Darryl did and you might get some soup. Otherwise, meh.

PS - Of course you're interested in my views and opinions. Why, you even counted them all (incorrectly, of course, but close)!

Smack-

I make a mean pot of chowder.

You are more than welcome to a bowl if you are in my neck of the woods.

Just focus on the issue at hand do not worry about my reality.

Yes. I did up it to 11k. I did some quick calculations and figured you would hit it by the time I squeezed this post in!

Follow the money.......

Ahm...wouldn't that just make me a minion?

Dude, you're not very good at this. But thanks for playing.

(PS - Which drawing is yours? They all look pretty generic to me.)
