Re: To all my Northern Sailing Friends...

It's all a moot point really! Whether one was raised to believe that "we are sinners in the hands of an angry God" -Jonathan Edwards or we are secularists......both this world and the possible (probable?) next one.....are going to be rather tepid! Enjoy your hot toddies or cold Heinekens .....depending upon one's geographic perspective! And no matter where one sails.....it seems that we end up sailing about the same amount of days!

Re: To all my Northern Sailing Friends...

Well, I found Florida rather hot and humid.
And later in the season, I have Loch Ness to look forward to.
And you don't.

Re: To all my Northern Sailing Friends...

Yup! Florida is nasty. Don't even think of comin' down here, specially after January 30th. There's bugs, snakes, gators, sharks and huge birds that'll poop all over yer boat. Most of the marina's are filled to the brim and the facilities are nasty due to the failing economy. There's nowhere to anchor either. Ugh...and the Keys... totally gross, they are! I was thinking of goin' down there just to see if anything has improved lately. I'll let ya all know in a couple months if its worth makin' a trip down here. But for right now, if I were in the north, I'd stay put and enjoy the beautiful, scenic snow covered evergreens. Ouch! Ow! Dang... another giant skeeter bite....oh, my, my, my does it hurt!!!

Re: To all my Northern Sailing Friends...

Hey the weather is looking up for our four day New Years cruise! No rain, may need to breakout the sunglasses.

Who needs Florida!

When it gets DOWN to 52 degrees in Florida, you're wishing you had the winter clothing we just took off.
I'm still wearing shorts, hasn't got cold enough to warrant long pants yet

I'm not happy unless I'm complaining about something.
I'm having a very good day!

It was 24 this morning, 33 now. Even standing in front of the wood stove made no difference to how cold my chicken legs felt. The long pants have been pulled out of the drawer today.....

Re: To all my Northern Sailing Friends...

Looks like rain most of the week with out of the east at 5 to 15 mph. May have some morring snow on Tuesday. Brian, if you are up to it, I'll let you crew on by boat when you get into Portland. LOL

Hey I'm a hard water sailer too! It's faster, hones your skills. Ice boats stay where you put them , no lunch hook worries. We got hard water fishing, you can stay on your spot, with less drift. The bait lasts longer & the beer stays cold. less trips for ice. ....Dale l
