Do AIS and radar units have an external relay?

Just wonder if they come with an external relay output that can trigger an external alarm, or better yet a siren or sprinkler system?

It depends on what kind of system configurations you are thinking about

Most AIS units is designed to use a MFD (multi function display) as the display unit, there are also stand alone units in the market.

Radars also come in different flavours
- Stand alone radar systems
- Radars that is designed to be used together with a MFD

Some MFD's (at least) have the possibility to set a CPA alarm and/or set up guard zones with alarm. My MFD can be connected to an external alarm.

I would guess that stand alone units would offer the same - but would look closely at the specs first.

I am not familiar with how the back panel of the Radar or AIS unit. Most of the units on the boat that one can set up to sound an internal alarm. However, the sound are so weak that if I doze off, there is no way to wake me up. I want to connect to an external siren (of course, I will have a proper relay to handle the amps) to wake me up.

For instance - my Furuno NN3D has a external buzzer output of max 100 mA.
