Thumbs up Off Topic Changes

Well, for those that have not noticed, we have implemented one of (potentially) many Off Topic changes. As many know, if you signed into Sailnet, you got to pick whether to see OT or not. However, if you did not sign in, and pressed Today's Posts (for example), you would get all the OT stuff. We got a lot of complaints about that.

Now, the only way you can see OT is if you intentionally go there. Even if you are not signed in, and you press the Today's Posts, you will not see any OT... only sailing related posts.

So those that were turned off by the often polarized views and nastiness in OT, you will find Sailnet much more enjoyable. All the bickering is over. We re all friends. Now, about which anchor is best... (snicker)

Brian

PS THanks to Jeff J for making this change.

Re: Off Topic Changes

They made a similar change over on the Wooden Boat forum a while back.
Seems to work just fine and keeps the waste water in the bilge, not on deck.

Re: Off Topic Changes

You mean there're opinionated people on Sailnet?

Geez Brian I've never come across that...

Seriously, you don't hear it enough but most of us really appreciate the hard work all the mods and support crew put into the site.

Re: Off Topic Changes

As a world-renown bilgewater connoisseur (of the non-PRWG nature of course), I have to say "well done".

No big hoops to jump through for members who want it, and you're not hiding it away so it can be abused. And non-members only see the sailing stuff which is why they're here in the first place.

This setup makes a lot of sense. Much more so than what I've seen in the past.

Well, that is all up fr opinoin. I can certainly tell you that mine is BIGGER! hehe! Stilll working hard to see you before you leave Gary! T-minus few weeks....

On another subject, there is a very, very good set of friends of mine down there. They are on a Crealok 37 in the field called SHibuni or something. Cannot remember. It has green canvas. SUper people... you will love them. If you see them, stop by and tell them Brian sent you. If it doesn't get you shot, it will at least break the ice!!

Take care!!! If I miss you in Marathon, I will try and catch you in the Chessy...

Brian
