I have always liked Edward Hopper's 'Ground Swell'. This picture, unlike so many marine paintings, shows that Hopper really understood how wind and water behave.

I enjoy doing water color and sometimes will bring my water color set along when I am cruising by myself. Here are two of my dabblings, 'Reaching home' and 'The Conch Sloop':
