Wow, that is nuts! I wonder what the ratio is between the number killed practicing to ditch in a "life" boat, versus the ones that were saved by ditching in a lifeboat.

OTOH, the remaining 84% of the fatalities were probably a combination of being killed by jilted lovers, husbands of lovers, booze, and smoking.
