Kinda unseamanlike that the bottle valve is at an angle, should be straight up and down, hope they remembered to close it.

There was a thread on here a couple of years ago. It was something about penises on freighters (I can't remember exactly - but if I recall it did go down that path).

Anyway, the upshot was that these bulbous proboscises had something to do with braking up the bow wake and making the boat more efficient.

I wonder if it has the same effect on a sailing vessel. I would imagine so.

And you are thinking these guys did all the math required to make this happen? ;)
I should shut up, it is the GENERAL Ironside and that looks like a missile gantry on the foredeck.
