Has anyone used Mapteck on there lap top?
There are three diffrent products, I'm intrested in the US Boating Charts.I will be using on the great lakes or one day move my boat to the east coast.
It looks like a cheap way to get accurate navigation info and plotting a corse.
Is it a good value at $100.00 plus the GPS unit $100.00

Re: Maptech

I use MAPTECH paper charts, but I would rather use NOAA electronic charts, it is free. Get a copy of navigational program (some free or are not) for PC or Mac first and down loan the charts.

Re: Maptech

May I suggest Fugawi Marine 5. Perhaps a bit expensive than what you are looking at, but worth it for the feature set. It allows for the creation waypoint/ route and also for realtime navigation. Besides it supports a bunch of chart manufacturers including Maptech and the (FREE!) NOAA.

Re: Maptech

I have used Maptech OSN, but they no longer provide much support to us Canucks.

Currently use OpenCPN and quite like it, especially the free part. I have it on both my netbook and my desktop.

A BU-353 GPS for $50 does the trick.
