Standing Rigging Tuneup Web course (2013)

Just wanted to pass this along. Hope someone can use this in a positive way.

Online Webinars 2013 | The Maryland School of Sailing

Quote:
Saturday February 16, 2013
10:00 am to Noon EST (Zone 5W)
Fee: $10 per person

Captain Tom Tursi will present:

Standing Rigging Tuneup

Properly adjusting the standing rigging that supports your mast and sails will improve the speed and performance of your boat and contribute to the life of both your rig and sails. While it's prudent to hire a professional rigger to periodically inspect and tune your rig, a knowledgeable sailor should master these important skills for times when a rigger is not available or to aid in spotting developing problems with the rig.
Disclaimer:
I took many courses from them in the past. But I am not related to Maryland School of Sailing nor I have any financial gain on this. In addition, please do not mention my name when you are talking to them; they will most likely to charge you double for the course or worst they may black list you for life having known me.

Thanks, that's very timely for me. I wish I could listen in, or that they offered it on-demand. I'd certainly pay the $10!

Good timing...Thanks for the post

I was thinking that I should know how to tune my standing rigging for launch this year.

Maryland school and I have a great relationship. I was just being funny and evil. I tried to tease some of the sailnetees of their common practices to tell other sailnetees to use their name when contacting the business owner. I don't need the glory or credit from Maryland School nor I wanted to be well known in sailing community. :P

Hey RockDawg, did they record the event? I'd REALLY like to learn more about the process.

Here's one of probably the most comprehensive and straight forward 'rig tuning guides' available on the iNet ... and the cost to download is free: http://www.riggingandsails.com/pdf/selden-tuning.pdf

Re: Standing Rigging Tuneup Web course (2013)

This book is very easy to follow on both rig tuning and trimming your sails:
Sail and Rig Tuning: Ivar Dedekam: 9781898660675: Amazon.com: Books Sail and Rig Tuning: Ivar Dedekam: 9781898660675: Amazon.com: Books

It's worth the $10-$15.
