travel with PFD

I''m preparing to start a Bareboat charter from Canouan and realized that I might run into difficulty traveling with my automatic PFD''s. What has been your experience with air travel and PFD CO2 cartridges? Our 1st stop will be Bequi where I''m sure we can buy new ones.

Thanks.

You can not carry CO2 on an aircraft on board in a carry on or in your lugagge.

You''ll see "compressed gases" are on the TSB list of prohibted things.

Buy new ones when you get there and leave them when you come home. I would not leave the PFD at home just the cartridges.

I read a copy of the cfr regulation that specifically permits the inflatible PFD''s. I think the security people might not be knowledgeable though. Also the airline can disallow them if they want.
Good luck

Actually, the auto-inflate PFDs can be brought on a plane, but the CO2 cartridge may not be allowed. Depending on where you''re going, you may need to buy the cartridge(s) upon arrival.
