Navicula Vulgaris

dear denizens of sailnet,

I am thinking of putting together a blog/column about that that subspecies of mariner I am planning on calling Navicular Vulgaris.

It is not really about the sort of boat they sail or more likely drive it is more about their attitude to themselves and other water users

I have managed to sort out a few criteria

this is a video of a classic

gladioli on a large table in a cockpit might be involved

matching Dubarry's

large wakes and jet-skis are probably in the mix somewhere

any more suggestions or anecdotes on the subject from you chaps gratefully received before I put pen to paper

Dylan

If you really want to blog about NEDS on the water ...

You'll find some nice anecdotes when you combine a google search for Boating and Darwin Awards, like these :

Simple Boating Safety Tips based on 9 Darwin Award Winners

For practical purposes I think you can restrict it to powerboats. ;)

The real stupids are too ignorant to make a sailboat move.

I imagine we all ignore one or more of them, at least some of the time. However, has anyone here ever depth charged their own boat?
