saroca with out mast

Hi, I still have the saroca (details earlier in this thread.) It would be good for someone in need of spare parts or a good hull. I'm in NJ and you can try to PM me, or just use david.gibbon@gmail.com since PM seems to be a problem in general.

gskeen...

I went out and took pictures but I had thought you were looking for the outboard motor set-up. I'm not sure if all years are the same, but my boat seems to use rigging from a Laser sailboat, the tiller/rudder assembly looks almost exactly like mine when I search pictures of Laser parts. Let me know if you still want some other pics.

OK, now I need some suggestions from yall. I just mounted a 34 lb thrust trolling motor on my SAROCA seen in the pictures above. At full speed (5) the motor seems to want to cavitate, it's more of a garbled noise and you can see air bubbles forming around/behind the outboard shaft and then down to the propeller. Just curious of others experience with an outboard motor on their SAROCA.

I just bought an old Saroca that apparently never had the sliding-seat rowing package. I'd love to find that! Anyone have one they would be willing to sell? I'd also be very interested in the cockpit tent-shelter stuff if that's available. Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. I'm new to this, so . . . I hope I'm not violating the "personal message" for newbies rule - not at all sure I understand exactly what that is/how it works.

ScotDomergue, if you are not successful in finding someone with a SAROCA to sell you their sculling you may be able to find a drop in unit from an existing manufacturer. Drop-in Rowing Unit: The Best Sliding Seat Unit in the Sport - Exceptionally Smooth

Thanks

Thanks for the suggestions Twisley. At least for now I think I'll go without the sliding-seat rowing system. My primary interest is cruising, and what to do with the sliding seat gear while sailing seems problematic. I've made some repairs and minor modifications to the boat as well as making a tent for sleeping aboard. Had a nice first overnight cruise in the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge area (Plum Island Sound, from Newburyport, MA). I've enjoyed the pictures of your boat, and would include some of mine if I could figure out how to do it . . .
