Searching for ORION 3. 23ft WARATAH twin keel yacht 1975

I'm am trying to find a yacht that my grandfather built in Thurlstane Tasmania between 1972 and '74. Some photos are in my album. ORION 3 was sold in the late 70's and sailed to King island. Originally a 21ft design by DENNIS KNIGHT (RIP) in the late 60's in Gosford N.S.W. It was a WARATAH TWIN BILGE KEEL MASTHEAD SLOOP. If you know of her current location I want to hear from you. I'm now 36 years old, my 'opa' died in '89 and it is my dream to find ORION 3 (as she was named back in the 70's) regardless of her current condition. call (DIRK, in Australia) on 0457 079 242, OR email me djyello77@hotmail.com. So....ten post's later (what a waste) I can give you this info, using photo's depicting the construction, I have uploaded a video to YOUTUBE

Apparently I need to have ten posts or more in order to upload a URL or email address. What a silly rule. It's not like I'm here to just talk bollocks, post for the hell of it and waste peoples time (like this post yeh'). Another ingenious idea from humanity!!!

It's not bad. The hot weather has dissapeared and it's a little chilly today. Clear sky though and flat seas.

Back to the topic at hand, I can't imagine what it would make me feel like if I was to actually find my opa's old yacht. I hope she still exists. I have no doubt my grandad did a super job on the construction.

Well my grandad was not the type of guy to cut corners and do things the cheap and easy way. You should see the effort he put into building model boats. Thats what he did after he got to old to be on the water.

My opa built 4 model boats,1 airoplane (the Southern Cross, complete with working propeller) lots of authentic dutch windmills and even little light houses. He was a true craftsman.

I agree whole heartedly. He was the consumate professional when it came to making things. After he immigrated to Australia after the second world war, he was participating in an electricians class. He corrected the teacher at one stage. The instructor said "well why don't you come up the front and teach the class if you are so good"....So he did and promptly showed the teacher up!!!!
