Chicagoland launches

Any trailer sailors with experience in the Chicago area have advice on the Richard J Daley boat launch? How steep is she?

Should I be looking for another, more forgiving launch as a beginner?

I don't know Chicagoland launches. However, where you launch may be limited by what boat you end up getting. Deeper draft will require longer/steeper ramps. For ramps that are long enough but not too steep, you will need a trailer with a tongue extension, or other creative solutions.

Re: Chicagoland launches

I've got my sights set on a mac 25 with the retractable keel, so draft hopefully won't be too big a problem. That, along with the light weight and mast raising system are really pulling me that way.

A boat launch with that name HAS to have bad karma.

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.
