My boat!!! (part 2)

Ok so my attempt at moving to the ocean and sailing away was thwarted (extraneous circumstances, blah blah blah). So I've been looking at smaller daysailer/weekender type boat to do some lake sailing and get some chops while I'm back home. Found it! Today bought a 1980 O'day 23 in pretty good condition on Percy Priest Lake in Nashville. Without further ado:

Came with two 110's, a 150 genny, extra set of stays, partnership in a trailer, and a grill (charcoal). Previous owner had the sails sent off and what I would call refurbished 2 years ago (all stitching checked and repaired). New cushions/upholstery, bottom done a couple years ago, should be good for a few more. No sign of water inside. Very clean boat, in as good of condition as any I've seen the past year and I really like the layout, should be pretty good for spending a couple days at a time on.

Very nice. O'Day built a solid boat. Enjoy her.

in their day Odays were cheap and ruggad.. unfortunately, today they do not get the respect they deserve.

Am I seeing the galley areas correctly? They slide out from under the cockpit?

Yes it has a small sink with pump water to starboard and a propane stove to port that slide out.

Good lookin' boat, congrats! I have a couple of friends that live in Nashville and have wondered how Percy Priest Lake is to sail on.

Nice. Fresh water and a caring owner sure is easier on a boat than salt. :)

Congratulations, Those are very nice boats. I had use of one when I lived in Savannah Georgia. I traded use of the boat for doing maintenance and teaching the owner to sail better. The boat sailed very well as I recall. The only thing I did not like is that the mainsheet attaches directly to the backstay. That fitting broke while we were sailing and it was hard to even jury rig a temporary connection to get home on. But these were amazingly nice boasts for the size and era.

Sh!t, that's a blue water cruiser IMOP. Congrats. Is'nt that about what Dove was? Maybe that was a 26 O'day. My grandparents retired on their O'day 30 something center cockpit. They loved it.
