He has an amazing story.
Over 1100 days at sea never stopping at land and no resupplying.

He did a slide show in New Haven.
Not well attended. Mostly yoga people attended not many sailors.

He has done a remarkable physical and mental feat and seem genuinely perplexed as to why he can't find a publisher for his book.

Any suggestions for him.
Well I think it was not well attended by sailors as his is not a story of sailing but more of drifting. He seems to me self aggrandIzing and would likely be a borring story his blog sure was.

You hit the nail on the head there!
I want some of what he was smoking all that time "out there"!
If I recall he was growing his own crops while at sea. Not sure which crops they were though.

I agree with the chorus; his blog was Boring with a capital "B". I read both books by authors you brought here but they both wrote well enough; even the author who was middle aged, short, overweight and balding but who only wanted a gorgeous girlfriend he could never find. Where are Glenn and Larry now?

Re: I met Reid Stowe

Stowe is one of those characters that will always inspire more interesting and entertaining things written about him by others, than anything he will write himself...

Herb McCormick's piece for CW, being one of the better examples:

Then, of course, there is the legendary thread he inspired on Sailing Anarchy... Hell, that's about a 1,000 days of reading, right there... (grin)

Perhaps it's not a compelling read?
Day 4, wrote on my face.
Day 5, still drifting.

Actually, I can admire the feat and still not want to read the book. It would be interesting to me if it was 1) brutally honest in every aspect (who what, why, where, how, how much), 2) about the internal/mental effects of being at seas that long, and 3) well written.

Brad

Re: I met Reid Stowe

Reid Stowe is to sailing records as Sarah Palin is to statesmanship.

He started with an interesting premise, and managed to completely alienate any potential audience by telling the story of the quest in real time, in the first person, via his blog.
He succeeded in his quest, yet didn't get a ticker tape parade or accolades, exactly because of the way the story was told, and the story teller spinning the tale.

Which demonstrates the value of a good editor and a good agent.

LMAO hysterical, and spot on. Both completely useless.

My biggest complaint, what was the point? Besides skipping out on child support and suckering in two women to do it with you? Any idiot can float around on a cork in the ocean with no clock, no purpose or destination. People who race optis get more respect in my book.
