Well...looking at the spin in the first shot, I suspect they likely knew what was coming. I'm guessing they thought they would squeak by right up to the end.

I'm sorry, but that is too funny! As long as no one hot hurt!!!!!!!!!!! I agree, "what was he thinking"? Even the 'spinnaker' couldn't hide that tanker, if he was a Naval officer, he ain't anymore!

Re: Well that's gotta be embarrassing!

I am guessing he did not want to pass down to leeward of the ship and thought he could make it. Also that pokey purple chute just does not go well with the red ship - fashion faux- pas for sure.

Final question, what kind of anchor is best for catching ships?

Back home on Lake Ontario after something over 36,000 nm circumnavigator. Not surprisingly there is a lot of stuff I want to get done on Ainia both cosmetically and functionally. Getting an early start so it will be ready to go for next summer (Lake Superior?).

Re: Well that's gotta be embarrassing!

It seems the video has a live audio feed... around here the skipper/pilot of the freighter would be blowing his whistle enough to wake the dead - didn't hear any such thing on the video soundtrack.

The main and kite would have created a significant blind spot.. there's absolutely no evidence of any kind of avoidance manoeuver... I don't think they knew he was there. Very fortunate not to have been utterly crushed....

That's an example of what the British military call "Blotting ones copy book".

I, myself, personally intend to continue being outspoken and opinionated, intolerant of all fanatics, fools and ignoramuses, deeply suspicious of all those who have "found the answer" and on my bad days, downright rude.
