Rainy days suck!

THis was just taken off our beam in Boot Key Harbor (Marathon, Florida).

Blowing in the 20's, gusts into the 30s. Lightning keeps us away from the compression post and tie rods (basically everyone is in their SR's). Boat is shut down and getting hot. No solar. DOg is shivering from the thunder and crawling all over me. Kids are restless and frustrated.

Rainy days suck! Sometimes I still have to remind myself though that it is still better than sitting in an office!!!

Re: Rainy days suck!

Still looks like paradise to me...this is MY current view... The upside is that in about an hour or so I'll be out sailing in the clear blue skies on our little lake.

Re: Rainy days suck!

Looks like what seems to be most days here in Portland. Either that, or absolutely no wind on the weekends, when I can try and sail.

Re: Rainy days suck!

Brian,

It may be rainy season in Marathon, but that rain will soon be gone, the temperatures will be back to the 80s, and if the wind dies down to normal, head out through Sister Creek and over to the mooring balls at Sombrero Light and take the kids snorkeling. Hey, the visibility there may only be about 30 to 40 feet, but that's a whole lot better than the 3 to 4-inch visibility in Chesapeake Bay. And, the last time I looked, there were a fair number of yellowtail snappers lurking around the fishing reef just a quarter-mile from the light. Sure would be fun for the kids, and of course the adults, to catch a mess of yellowtail, fire up the grill and have them for supper. OH YEAH!

Good Luck,

Gary

HA! Absolutely. And the kids keep reminding me of that too!

We have actually been to Marathon several times (though this is the first time to stay at Boot Key, always stayed at Marathon Marina).

I told the attendants at the City Marina you said hi. They remembered you and said to say hi back. That that would make you smile.

I was in that area for a while. When I started longingly looking at jumping into the Columbia and not coming back up, I realized it was time to get out!!

I will say though, Portland and Vancouver has some of the nicest people in the country. Easy going and polite and laughing a lot. I miss the people there, but not the weather!!
