Re: New Crew

Be careful, there are bacterial and fungal diseases spread by Starlings that can be passed to humans. They really aren't good pets.

Good for you for saving them, but be sure you remain sanitary and they should be returned to the wild. Truthfully, imagine a species 100 times your size, picking you up, feeding you, and keeping you in a box forever.

p.s. should this be in OT?

And the alternative is ???? Just let them starve to death?? I am not planning on keeping them in a box forever, but right now they can't fend for themselves. Once they can look afterthemselves, they get to go out into their world. I'll chirp a bit next time I feed them and try to make myself look smaller.

Re: New Crew

I had the privilege of meeting Michael and Linda's menagerie. There are a bunch of cats, too, that kind of pay the birds no mind. Only thing missing is a giant pink snail. I want to be there when Michael takes the birds up the mast to teach them how to fly...

Re: New Crew

The alternative I thought I made perfectly clear is not to keep them forever. Glad that's your plan. I thought buying them a bird cage suggested otherwise.

They are hungry and will instinctively eat, but you need to know what you're doing to keep from training away their natural instinct to gather their own food at some point.

Re: New Crew

The other alternative is to wait until they're big enough to eat...

Re: New Crew

very good of you to do this, and as always amazing close up pics.

I know you are in a warm climate but, keep an eye on temps. at night especially. heat lamp possibly?

that is what we use on baby chicks for a few weeks. (chickens)

Re: New Crew

The cage is just so that they don't turn into self propelled cat toys.

Re: New Crew

One of the cats is playing adoptive mummy.
Hardly ever leaves the side of the cage

And after feeding makes sure that the beaks are clean.
