What should be on my Launch List

Good afternoon all -
After two years on the hard, countless hours of re-fit, repair, varnish, sweat, tears, blood and salty language we are finally ready to splash our 1981 Islander Bahama 30, Miss Beppie!

I have a marine survey ordered prior to launch (mostly for Insurance purposes), but also as a litmus for areas I may have missed or that might still require work to be ship shape.

I have done a search in the forums, but have not found a list of pre-launch items I should do/check/be aware of before the big event. I should disclose, this is our first boat, and although I sailed and owned a boat 30 yrs ago, I consider myself back at the beginning. I know the SN community is ripe with experience, so I am looking to the combined knowledge of its members.

What should be on my launch list?

Thanks All!
Eric

Others will probably have a more complete list. What I do look bow to stern and try to think of anything that can not be done once launched. Obvious things are bottom paint, seacocks, rudder repairs, speed transducer, etc. I test fire the engine (using the proper dry-land technique). Otherwise, don't worry too much. There are a lot of things that you can complete on the water.

Yes... if there's water covering it, or if it leads to water if you unhook it - make sure you deal with it before launch. Stuffing box, through hulls, paint, transducers, zincs, etc. Then splash it, make sure it floats, and everything else can be done when in the water.

If there is rum aboard then everything else is optional.

Make sure you've paid the boatyard. "No cash, no splash"... ;-)
