We often sleep head-next-to-feet in really hot weather in our queen birth
It's cooler, with more room for air to move, than shoulder-to-shoulder.
Yes, wash your feet first!
We also carry a large slow-turning room fan as a ceiling fan substitute. It uses very little electricity on low. We use it more than the AC. I've considered modifying it into a ceiling fan more than once, but there simply isn't the clearance.
