Finding the Hull Number

There was a small plastic engraved with a series of number on the back of the transom that I dont think is the number, its too long and has letters in it.
There is a small metal plate just under the opening to the companionway with the simple number 23 on it. I think this is the number. What say you?

See (click on) Hull Identification Number. The last two or three numbers of the hull serial number, depending upon how prolific the builder is/was, are normally the actual hull number.

Yes, that is the official hull ID#. If you have the boat registered, insured, CG documented, mortgaged, etc., all parties involved will want that number.

Re: Finding the Hull Number

Sounds like you have Hull Number 23 but that should match up with a "23" in the longer string molded into the transom. HINs, like the VINs in cars, use both letters and numbers.
