anyone here made the trip? i know its not far but my boat is just a 19ft. planning on making the trip this winter. any advice? personal experiance?

Here's a write up of the race we did last fall - along with pics. The oil rigs are a bit scary at night. Other than that - it's a really nice run.

When are you going? Would you like a buddy boat? I've done that run. The TMCA also does that run a couple of times a year, with dozens of boats.

that would be great, it will still be some time befor im out on the water, im trying to restor my boat a bit to get it back to sea worthy conditions... well as sea worthy as a 19ft mariner could be haha. ill keep you posted for sure.

Interesting this post is at the top of the page, I'm contemplating the same thing and was just about to post a thread asking the same stuff. I'm considering buying a boat in the Houston area since there are more there than here in Corpus, then sailing it down. Just in the planning stage, but I like to have all logistics worked out before undertaking any project.

What are thoughts about offshore vs ICW? What about time underway in average conditions? Other tips and tidbits?

That was an excellent account of your trip and really enjoyed it. Hopefully I can get on one of the runs one of these days.
