Helms 25 location for VHF and mast circuits.
This past winter I wanted to install a VHF antenna at the mast head, a new combo steaming light/foredeck light and spreader lights. The question of where to install the vhf radio to have the shortest possible coax run and where to put the panel for the new lights. Our old panel has no spare space.
After a lot of trial & error and measurements, I'm very pleased with the location I selected as can be seen in the pictures below. I ran a new 10 ga wire from the battery to the panel so my voltage drop for the vhf is very low when transmitting.
The vhf shown has a remote mike that I installed at the transom and works well for access and audio.
The first 2 pictures show the panel with it hinged down for access.
I'm thinking of adding an LED cabin lamp to the left of the rocker switches this winter.
