Question 1982 Hunter 27

I'm looking at a 1982 Hunter 27 for sale. The boat has been owned by the same couple for many years, and has been well-cared for.

My question is, does anyone know if the ballast type is iron or lead? I come up empty when 'Googling' for specifications on the ballast type in 27's of this era. From what I can glean from various forums and threads, these "Cherubini" Hunters are nice boats...but 30+ years old now.

Nothing wrong with a 30 year old boat. I love my 33 year old Cherubini Hunter 36.

Excellent!!! Thanks much, Ralph.

Glad to hear you are pleased with your Cherubini Hunter, too. I'm thinking this 27 just might be the right fit for my first venture into sailboat ownership.

It's a nice size to start for sure. My first sailboat was a Laguna (Balboa) 22. I had a blast with that boat.

Good luck. I hope it works out for you.

Hope this helps, sailboatowners.com shows that model was produced from 75 to 84, with keel material of lead.

Re: 1982 Hunter 27

I have acquired a 1985 Hunter 22 fixed keel - not too many made - mine is #12! Anyone know about these? I'd love to replace the broken hatch!
