Need Specs on my Hunter 27

I have a Hunter 27 and I have identified my hull number. Does anyone know where I can go to find specs for it using the hull number? I'm trying to replace some sails and thought it might be helpful to start with the original specs/measurements.

k1vsk will become famous soon enough
You can find the original brochure, design specs and other data, depending upon what year yours is, on the Hunterowner site:

SailboatOwners.com - Home or Hunterowners.com

we really need the year, hunter has like 5 or 6 hunter 27's

if its an early boat, years 76 to 83, it is a tall rig, they all where. i dont know much about any of the other years.

as for sails, you really should have it measured. most lofts will do this pretty cheap, maybe free to give you a quote for sails.

now if it is a 76 to 83 boat, you really should convert it to an adjustable topping lift. its not hard and can be done for around 40 bucks. also looking into vangs, they can help when on a run

Not all 1976-84 27's were tall rig, the rig was changed sometime between 1978 and 1979, If you have one of these two years you should either call Hunter and ask (1-800-771-5556) or measure them. The specs for 1976-78 are:

I - 34.50ft
J - 11.25ft
P - 29.75ft
E - 10.00ft

1979-1984

I - 37.67ft
J - 11.25ft
P - 32.30ft
E - 9.92ft

I also have a Renault RC-8D engine. The Transmission is shot. Any suggestions on parts or potential replacements? My mechanic says that the transmission is not interchangeable with other mfgs.

Only way to get another Renault transmission is to buy a used one, or repower. The later boats used a Yanmar 1GM, or find a 2GM. That's my plan for next year, find a used yanmar.

My Hull # is 54572M80A-27. I assume the year to be 1980 and I have an original sail with the 572 number on it.

Do you think either the 1GM or the 2GM will fit?

Yeah, those engines have been installed in these boats. Mine is a 1980 as well, sail number 716. Guess they made a lot of 27's that year
