What kind of boat have you been looking to live aboard on?

Re: new to sailing. anyone in Norfolk area?

i have no idea! ive always wanted to sail and the idea of living on a boat appeals to me and i figure ill never be able to have a home and a boat so why not both in one! but if figure i should do some research first( like learning how to sail!) before i jump in and save some money. do you know of any classes in the area? what would you say is the hardest thing about living aboard?

At this time, what is more important? Living aboard first and then learning to sail or learning to sail first before trying to live aboard?

Re: new to sailing. anyone in Norfolk area?

i wanna learn to sail first and see how i like it. right now its just a romantic idea but i know there are hardships to living the life. id like to love sailing first and get an idea of what living this life would be like. plus i need to save for a down payment so i might as well learn all i can. in the broad strokes im thinking a boat between 28-30 ft; something comfortable but still a good sailor. any advise you can give someone contemplating this life? what would you have done differently in hindsight?

I agree with your 28-30' range...big enough to be comfortable without getting too big. Being a Catalina fan, the C-27 is a nice size boat. The C-30 even better.
Have you come up with some budget figures yet? How much do you want to spend and how much can you afford for monthly expenses..slip fees, insurance, maintenance, etc?
